Thinkific vs Udemy

Upfront, for anyone looking for an online training platform that is customizable and flexible, Thinkific is the right platform. Udemy doesn’t offer such flexibility and their users only get features that are in the system. They can’t play with the look of their site from their own preference.

Thinkific also offers more flexible pricing on plans as compared to Udemy.

Transaction fees on plans are free for all plans except the Free Plan where they take only 10%. Those hosting their sites on Udemy, however, expect charges of up to 50% on revenue.

And when it comes to getting money in your account, Thinkific has an almost instant payment process. Udemy customers have to wait for periods of 2-3 months for payment to reflect in their accounts.

Thinkific also allows their client’s full control of their courses but Udemy only allows clients to specify names and add and update lessons, but they cannot, for example, delete the course.

Udemy, as compared to Thinkific, offers different forms of marketing with extensive activities.

Another key difference between the two platforms is that with Thinkific you can create membership sites where people have to pay to access content on a monthly or annual basis. You can’t do this with Udemy.

To sum it up, if you are looking for a platform that gives you more control over your courses, is flexible, and offers a better payment structure, then Thinkific is the platform for you. If, however, you are looking for a platform that offers more marketing activities, then Udemy might be a better fit.

Thinkific is the better platform if you are looking for one that is customizable and flexible. You also won’t have to pay any transaction fees on plans except for the free one. With Udemy, you might have to pay charges of up to 50% on revenue.

Leadpages and Clickfunnels are two of the most popular options for building landing pages. The two options have many similarities but also a few key differences that make one or the other better suited to your needs.

Leadpages vs Clickfunnels

Pricing: Leadpages vs Clickfunnels

The first difference between Leadpages and Clickfunnels is in their pricing models. Â Leadpages offers free templates with paid upgrades while Clickfunnels is a monthly subscription service. This means that with Leadpages you only pay for the upgrades you need while with Clickfunnels you have access to all features from the start.

Functionality: Leadpages vs Clickfunnels

The second difference is in the functionality of the two platforms. Leadpages focuses on providing templates and tools for building landing pages while Clickfunnels provides a more all-in-one solution that includes email marketing, payment processing, and other features. Leadpages vs Clickfunnels: Which is better for you?

No matter which option you choose, you can be sure you’re getting a great platform for building landing pages.

Best Grammar checker for Mac

Any writer taking their craft serious knows how essential it is that your content is not rigged with grammar and spelling errors. In today’s tech world, it is especially essential to get the help of software in proofreading your work. That’s because there are millions of publications made every day and you would want to make sure your work is not only unique, but also error-free.

Grammar checkers are safe to use, unless you are writing content that is legally sensitive. A good grammar checker will never track your content. For instance, Grammarly’s privacy policy states that they won’t help you if a document is legally sensitive, but will not monitor your content if otherwise.

How to find the best Grammar checker software for your Mac

As a student, an ardent writer, or one that looks forward to streamlining writing as their full time job, it is essential to find the best grammar checker software. However, just searching for “the best grammar checker” from your Google search bar will not do. That’s because of the sheer volume of grammar checkers available on the internet.  Fortunately for you, I have done all the testing for you and prepared a detailed list of six of the best grammar checker tools for proofreading content for students, writers, bloggers, and authors.

I have also gone the extra step and provided the most essential aspects of each tool to help you choose the one that best suits your niche. Well, let’s kick this off:

6 Reviews of the Best Grammar Checkers for Mac

Grammarly for Mac –Overall best Grammar checker for Mac

Grammarly is easily the most popular grammar checker for Mac in the world right now and not without reason. Grammarly grammar checker tool not only corrects your grammatical errors, but also provides the user with a comprehensive writing feedback. It is also pretty straightforward to use and get the best out of the software with a simple and friendly user interface.

I have been using Grammarly to scan my documents for errors and plagiarism since 2014, and I am pretty familiar with the interface and functionality of the writing assistant. You can use it to proofread and correct the spelling and grammatical errors in blog posts, social media updates, articles, and drafts of your book’s chapters.

Key features of Grammarly:

  • Grammarly uses a web extension on browsers, and features a desktop app for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android app known as Grammarly Keyboard.
  • Features a free version for the writers on a strict budget: What’s more is that you can easily install a plugin on your browser and conveniently check your articles, blogs or social media posts for errors free of charge.
  • Grammarly has a browser add-on or extention that works as a spell checker within WordPress. That way, you can conveniently run spelling and grammar checks on your blog posts as you create them.
  • The paid version of Grammarly, Grammarly Premium checks spelling, grammar as well as punctuation and plagiarism. It is essential for those writers looking to improve their English writing skills since it features writing insights as well as the reasons behind common grammatical errors.
  • Grammarly also offers human proofreader services. For this, you would have to send a copy of your work to a human proofreader working for Grammarly and pay between 0.02 and 0.12 per word depending on how soon you would like the document completed.

Grammarly identifies the spelling and grammar errors on a side bar in its editor page. By scrolling down, you can review the correction and choose to accept or refuse the corrections. Grammarly identifies much more errors than the Microsoft Word editor can, especially text written in passive voice. While you could choose to let the passive voice remain in your text, it is much less engaging to read.

Like most other punctuation checkers, Grammarly also recommends adding commas, colons, and semi colons among other punctuation where relevant. Some popular spell checkers like Ginger and Whitesmoke ignored this feature in their software.

How much does Grammarly cost?

  • Grammarly Premium can be paid monthly to the tune of $29.95/month billed at the start of each month
  • Grammarly Premium also offers a quarterly subscription option that will cost you $59.95 and will be billed as a single payment. This translates to $19.98 per month saving you at least $9.50 on the monthly option
  • Grammarly Premium also offers an annual subscription option that costs $139.95 and is paid as a single payment. The price compares to $11.66 per month which could save you $18.29 on the monthly option.

ProWritingAid –Best for fiction and Scrivener writers

Based in London, ProWritingAid is a software firm that was founded back in 2012. The grammar checker software is designed to be a virtual writing tutor and personal writing coach as well as a grammar and and spell checker. After testing ProWritingAid against all her top competitors in spell and grammar checks, I found that the tool features some pretty powerful software. Below are the key features ProWritingAid offers its users:

  • Seamless integration with Google Docs, Word/Outlook. Final Draft, Open Office, and Scrivener
  • Offers easy download of its desktop app for both Mac and Windows or installation via the user’s browser
  • Features browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, enabling you to check your grammar and spelling on any website, including Facebook, Medium, Twitter, Wattpad, and Gmail
  • Offers the user an option to check spelling and grammatical errors via a web editor or by uploading a copy of the document that they need to proofread
  • ProWritingAid keeps the source formatting, including your color and font choice

ProWritingAid’s editor, like Grammarly’s underlines all spelling and grammatical errors on the article and also includes more suggestions. For newbies, the different types of reports on the writing may be, at first, confusing, but you will quickly learn the ropes once you have clicked on each suggestion or mistake.

Particularly, I was impressed by ProWritingAid’s feature called Echoes. “Echoes” is designed to identify zones in your article or blog where you have overused phrases or other words. It is especially useful when improving your writing skills. ProWritingAid also identified clichés in my document, which is nothing short of impressive for grammar and spell checking software.

While the ProWritingAid website claims the software supports at least twenty languages, the ProWritingAid premium version that I tested only supported British and American English. The software is therefore not ideal if you plan on writing in more than one language or are just learning English.

Another misfortune I found with the software is that it took significantly longer than grammarly and Ginger to identify mistakes in my document. Its user interface is also a little tacky and needs a littke polishing to match Grammarly’s.

While less powerful and user-friendly than Grammarly, ProWritingAid bases its readability score for your article on the Flesch Reading core. It is one of the most accurate ways to determine a writer’s sentence structures and can, therefore, be a useful tool for those seeking to improve their web writing skills.

How much does ProWritingAid Cost?

ProWritingAid is the cheapest grammar and spell checker for mac on this review. Immediately you sign up for ProWritingAid, the program offers you a free trial that lasts two weeks. After the trial period expires, you must subscribe to one of the options below:

  • Monthly Subscription: Priced at $20.00 in monthly payments
  • Yearly Subscription: Priced at $79.00 in yearly payments
  • Lifetime: Priced at $299 in a one-time payment for all updates

If you are working with a strict budget and cannot afford to invest in Grammarly’s Premium checker, ProWritingAid is an excellent option. Since ProWritingAid is one of the few programs that supports Scrivener, it is the perfect choice for fiction writers that use Scrivener a lot.

Pros

  • It is the cheapest spelling and grammar checker that I have reviewed
  • Satisfactorily accurate
  • Plenty of self-editing features included
  • Supports Scrivener which is perfect for fiction writers

Cons

  • It features slower spell and grammar checker than Grammarly and Ginger
  • It is less helpful for people who have English as their second language
  • Its user interface is more sluggish than other grammar and spelling checkers
  • Features no mobile app

Ginger –Best for multilingual editing and Translation

Ginger is an Israeli-based corporation that was setup back in 2007. It is, therefore one of the more established grammar and spelling checkers available on the market. Ginger, like Grammarly, offers free spelling and grammar check as well as a premium online proofreading tool. The quickest way to get started on Ginger is installing its Chrome extension or for any other supported browser.

Ginger has a reputation for the value of the service it offers its users. What’s more, it does also provide desktop apps for Mac and Windows. For Android, you will have to use a keyboard or copy and paste your content onto their web app. It also features a punctuation checker for Gmail text correction. Below are some of the other key features Ginger offers:

  • Ginger is available for advanced tools like Slack and provides  Mac and Windows desktop apps
  • Supports Chrome extensions and other browser extensions for a quick startup
  • The software also features a find-and-fix for synonyms of commonly overused words
  • Ginger highlights all the spelling and grammar errors in blue
  • Ginger Premium, like Grammarly, offers additional writing advice for grammatical errors and features more power in mistake identification than its free checker. For instance, Ginger Premium features advanced grammar rules such as subject-verb agreement.
  • Amazingly, Ginger also includes translation support for more than 60 languages, including, German, Spanish, English, Yiddish and more. While Google Translate can handle checks on a document’s grammatical errors and translate it into different languages, having this feature in one app is very useful, not to say impressive.
  • Ginger Premium also offers a virtual writing assistant who offers video grammar lessons and tests to improve your English writing skills. The feature should be very appealing to those learning to write in English for their first time or have not had enough writing experience. With this tool, you could write your article in Spanish, translate it into English, then do a grammar check to correct any translation errors all within the one application.
  • Ginger also provides a personal dictionary if you would like to add some words that you do not want to identify as grammar or spelling errors. This feature is particularly helpful to fiction writers that have unusual character names in their text. This feature lacks in Grammarly, making Ginger more ideal for fiction writers than the former.

Unlike Grammarly, Ginger fails to avail their Mac desktop app just yet. However, Ginger offers decent features that are not available on Grammarly and other premium grammar checkers on the market. For instance, I noticed that Ginger puts headings in bold and formats the document professionally. Grammarly, ProWritingAid and WhiteSmoke do not have this feature.

Ginger is as accurate as Grammarly in finding and fixing spelling and grammar errors as well as punctuation mistakes. However, the tool is less insistent when it comes to comma usage in my text. You will also have to hover over the grammatical errors rather than showing them in a sidebar like in Grammarly. While it would be a convenient feature, it is just but a small gripe in a list of intuitive features.

How Much Does Ginger Software Cost?

  • Ginger Monthly Subscription: Priced at $29.96 per month
  • Ginger Quarterly Subscription: The subscription costs $19.98/month if paid up front. It is billed as a single payment of $23.97
  • Ginger annual Subscription: The subscription costs $12.48/month if paid up front. It is billed as one payment of $59.88

Note that Ginger was offering a 30% discount on all its premium plans at the time of writing this article. You could also access a 7-day money-back guarantee on their official site.

Pros

  • Ginger’s free version is considerably more powerful than other free grammar and spell checkers
  • Non-English native speakers get a virtual writing assistant and translation features to enable them to be heard across the English-speaking divide
  • The personal dictionary is an excellent addition, especially for fiction writers

Cons

  • Having to hover over grammatical errors with your mouse somewhat slows self-editing
  • Depending on how the document is formatted, you might notice some accuracy issues

Whitesmoke –Best for web app grammar checking

Whitesmoke is a software firm that was established back in 2002 to provide writers with an affordable online proofreading tool for Mac and Windows. As so, it is one of the most affordable options for checking grammar and spelling errors as well as sentence structure and punctuation. Below are some of the key features you can expect to find on Whitesmoke:

Whitesmoke Key Features

  • Whitesmoke can run accurate spelling and grammatical errors, sentence structure mistakes, punctuation errors, and more. It is very useful for those writers on a tight budget and also for non-English writers.
  • The tool works on almost all browsers, including Chrome, firefox, Safari, and Opera depending on the version of browser you are using and the subscription you sign up for. Whitesmoke Essential is the subscription that is compatible with web browsers.
  • Whitesmoke Premium offers additional support as well as Mac, MS Office, Gmail and Windows apps
  • Whitesmoke Premium also features a translator, although, unlike Ginger, it only supports 8 languages
  • Whitesmoke Grammar editor also offers templates for formatting projects like grant proposals, cover letters, thank you messages and many more

Whitesmoke offers one of the most affordable online proofreading tools that I have reviewed. Moreover, the company updated its user interface in 2018, to feature a smooth and user-friendly experience.

While Whitesmoke is not as easy to use or as fast as Grammarly, it offers commendable accuracy in finding and fixing grammar and spelling mistakes. However, making corrections to your text will involve an extra step when compared to grammarly in that you will have to export the final version of your content to a text document.

Like ProWritingAid, Whitesmoke is more affordable than Grammarly Premium. However, unlike ProWritingAid, the tool allows you to download mobile apps as well.

How much does Whitesmoke Cost?

  • Whitesmoke Essential: Priced at $5 per month and is billed as a single $59.95 payment
  • Whitesmoke Premium: Priced at $6.66 per month and is billed as a single $79.95 payment
  • Whitesmoke Business: Priced at $11.50 per month and is billed as a single $137.95 payment

Whitesmoke does not offer monthly subscriptions, which is pretty unusual for grammar and spell checkers.

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Commendably accurate
  • Very easy to use
  • Suitable for business writers

Cons

  • You will have to pay yearly
  • Its user interface is a little slower than Ginger and Grammarly
  • It is slower than Ginger and Grammarly in finding errors and fixing them

Hemingway –Best for self-editing

Hemingway Editor is among the best Mac grammar editors as it is designed to help writers write truly flawless sentences and discard every other valueless content. Based on the American author’s famous saying, “All you have to do is create one true sentence. Write the truest sentence you know”, Hemmingway Editor is the only spelling and grammar checker that matches Grammarly’s accuracy. I rely on this tool alongside Grammarly for most of my proofreading work.

Hemingway is best used for self-editing in my experience. Below are the key features of Hemingway Editor spell and grammar checker:

  • Hemingway Editor, like Grammarly highlights different mistakes with different color codes. For instance, it highlights all complex sentences in red, passive voice in green, and all adverbs in blue. It is, therefore, up to your writing style to decide which sentence structure corrections to fix and which ones to ignore.
  • You can hover your mouse over the errors in Hemingway Editor to get hints from the tool
  • Hemingway also offers a fast and efficient writing tutor
  • The Hemingway desktop app is efficient and has very few distractions to help you concentrate on the quality of your text

While Hemingway does not offer suggestions or provide context like in Grammarly and other grammar checker software, it does provide the necessary resources to help you write more clearly.

How much does Hemingway Editor cost?

Hemingway provides its web app for free and a desktop app for Mac or Windows for $19.99.

Pros

  • Most ideal software for self-editing
  • Ideal for fiction as well as non-fiction writing
  • It is the perfect complement for Grammarly or whichever other grammar and spelling checker tool you prefer

Cons

  • Is not an ideal replacement for dedicated grammar and spelling checkers
  • It has fewer features than most other grammar and spelling checkers on this review.

Free Grammar Checker for Students using Mac

Are a student using Mac and are in the look for free grammar checker tools only? Most of the grammar and spelling checker tools on this list as well as in the market have free versions. However, most of the free versions always have limited features. Fortunately, they will correct the most common grammar and spelling errors.

While a little more expensive, I would recommend going for a premium grammar checker tool to make sure that all the advanced instances of subject-verb agreement, passive voice and other tricky errors are fixed in your assignments and projects. These errors are pretty hard to spot manually and most free versions might skip them.

Top Plagiarism Checker for Mac

The best plagiarism checker for Mac has to offer the most accurate scan for similar documents and texts to make sure all your assignments and projects are unique. All writers understand the importance of writing original content, whether they are students or writing professionally.

In my experience, Grammarly Premium is the best plagiarism checker for Mac. The tool provides a percentage score for the documents originality and highlights the texts that match other text in different documents across the globe. Plagiarized text appears on a side section on the right, allowing the user to easily correct the sentences to attain a 100% score on their text originality. The best alternative to Grammarly Premium plagiarism checker is Copyscape, which features an even more accurate scanner for similar text around the web. It is also not advisable to get the help of free plagiarism checkers as they do not feature the accuracy required in plagiarism checking, which might put your online business in jeopardy.

Clicky vs Google Analytics

Clicky vs Google Analytics

wrGoogle Analytics is a powerful tool, one of the most popular in the world. But there’s another analytics program that you might want to check out: Clicky. In this post, I have reviewed Clicky’s features and compared them with Google Analytics.

I first used Clicky after hearing an interview by Laquan, the founder of 10Beasts who mentioned how this was one of his best tools for understanding his clients. Years later it still remains my best tool to understand how visitors to my sites interact with the content – with features such as heatmap and real-time web behaviors.

Unlike link tracking software, web analytics platform such as Clicky offers data on what users are doing on your site – are they clicking some links, zooming in some sections, or playing some videos. By using real-time web traffic analytic tools such as Google Analytics or Clicky, you get to better improve your on-page SEO and rank higher on SERPs.

What is Clicky?

Clicky is an analytics program, which means it tracks your website traffic so you can know what content people are viewing the most, where they’re coming from, how long they stay on each page…etc. And of course, all this information is useful to see if there’s a particular direction you should be taking your content in so that it’s more effective.

Differences: Clicky vs Google Analytics

Clicky is a “Real-time web analytics” platform ideal for getting insights & web visitors for smaller sites. Clicky Web Analytics gives bloggers and smaller websites a more personal understanding of their visitors.

For bigger sites, Google Analytics caters to enterprise-level web analytics where marketers and developers can get more detailed info to measure your advertising ROI and other web applications.

I have used both Clicky and Google Analytics on my blog, and I can tell you that there are some clear differences.

Clicky is just a good bit faster than Google Analytics when it comes to page loading times. I don’t know why it’s faster, but a lot of other people have noticed this as well.

Clicky also has a cleaner interface than Google Analytics. Instead of being forced to go by scrolling side-to-side on the page, Clicky features a sidebar so you can look at all your stats together in one place. Google Analytics, on the other hand, has additional menus at the top of the screen.

Price Comparison

Clicky offers a limited free plan that allows you to monitor up to 3000 page views per day – which is more than enough for most bloggers who are just starting out.

Once you get past that point or require more advanced features, then Clicky will cost you $9.99 per month ($79.99 annually) for up to 30,000 page views. Google Analytics features a free plan that allows you unlimited page views but has more limited tracking abilities than what’s available in Clicky.

Clicky has other premium plans. You can upgrade to the premium package for $14.99 per month, which works out to be $119 per year. If you want all of Clicky’s features, the premium package is the way to go. The business plan offers unlimited users and page views for $19.99 per month or $159.99 annually.

Clicky is a powerful analytics solution with many benefits over other services, including Spy and RSS feeds that allow website owners to get real-time information about their visitors.

Clicky has a premium heatmap feature similar to Crazy Egg but Google Analytics does not.

Similarities: Clicky vs Google Analytics

  • Both can be used by bloggers without paying anything. Clicky has a free plan and Google Analytics is entirely free.
  • Clicky and Google Analytics can both be installed on WordPress with simple plugins.
  • Clicky and Google Analytics require the tracking code to be installed in the header of the site posts/pages.

What companies use Clicky?

  • Accenture
  • Reverb.com
  • Samsunir
  • Diffbot
  • WP Engine
  • Muna
  • Tidal Labs

Companies that use Google Analytics

  • Uber Technologies
  • Airbnb
  • Google
  • Spotify
  • Udemy
  • Robinhood
  • Slack

C:\Users\REAL ASF\Desktop\IMG_20201028_075214_164.jpg

As a group of writers with quite a bit of experience, one of the most common questions we encounter on a daily basis is “do you guys think a writing app can help someone improve their craft?” Our answer is always “Are you kidding? Of course.”

A writing app is like a tool; without the right tool you cannot be able to accomplish the task at hand; and even if you do, it’s usually after much groveling, toiling and cursing more than a few times. We’d hate to see you in such a position. This is why we have researched, compiled and written this article about the Best Writing Apps in 2022 that can help you turn your interest in writing into a very productive and profitable endeavor.

Our top pick for the best writing apps in 2022 is Grammarly.  This is one of the easiest apps to use. Grammarly – Best for in-depth scrutiny of short pieces e.g. emails and articles
